Hey horror related vendors Grossfest is looking for you!
We already have a nice variety of cool horror vendors and two guests (the legendary filmmaking duo of David F. Silvio and Cassandra Blue) but we are looking for a few more to fill our May 1st event. It is our “Halfway to Grossfest-o-ween” event sponsored by Willow Station Restaurant/Bar. In attempt to make all people in the independent horror community happy: vendors, filmmakers, authors, attendees, artists, etc. We are having the outdoor event outside of Willow Station Restaurant and Bar in Castle Shannon, Pa., 10am to 3pm. Vendor spaces will be 10 x 10 (you supply table, chairs, tent or canopy if wanted) as this will be a rain or shine event. The limited spaces are just $25 and one space to a vendor of course. The event is free to people who are attending (we just ask after visiting the cool vendors go inside Willow Station for a beer or brunch?)

Hey Grossfest fans it has been a long time but mark your calendars for May 1st, 2022 as we have an event for you! It is our “Halfway to Grossfest-o-ween” event sponsored by Willow Station Restaurant/Bar. In attempt to make all people in the independent horror community happy: vendors, filmmakers, authors, attendees, artists, etc. We are having an outdoor event in the back parking lot of Willow Station Restaurant and Bar in Castle Shannon, Pa. The back parking lot of the building and patio will be the place to be from 10am to 3pm. Vendor spaces will be 10 x 10 (you supply table, chairs, tent if wanted) as this will be a rain or shine event. The limited spaces are $25 and (just one space to a vendor and of course first to pay, first to get them). If you are just attending the event to see what horror related stuff people will have at the Grossfest event the admission is free for all but we encourage for you to go inside this wonderful bar/restaurant Willow Station, as they have delicious food and great drinks. Menus will be inside as you must order and pay inside. This will hopefully be the beginning of many upcoming Grossfest events we are planning.

This lovable duo needs no introduction as they are Pittsburgh film royalty and winners of the Grossfest Lifetime Achievement Award: They are independent film royalty as these two are behind such Indy cult classics “Meat for Satan’s Icebox” and “Fetish Dolls Die Laughing” among working on several other projects throughout the years writing, acting, directing, and have so many stories of working on Hollywood films that were made in Pittsburgh! This duo is known as David and Diana Silvio of Kiss of Death Productions.
Another guest that doesn’t need any introduction as she is one of the most talented and busiest people you could meet! She is the author of Solsticenightsky Productions & Radio, she is a well-established author, dabbles in acting, investigator, bad ass mum, knows way too much about the paranormal, bigfoot, and werewolves, she does it all! Her stories will make you rethink everything going on around you… I present to you: Christine M. Soltis!
Our next guest is more known than people realize… This local man is not just your typical horror author. His writing is influenced by Poe and Lovecraft (my opinion) but based in the darker side of humanity which should scare the shit out of you! He is one of my favorite people to talk to when it comes to authors, artists, radio hosts, music, comic books, artwork, and he has written one of the best post-apocalyptic stories you can ever read! Just don’t ask him about “The Car 2” as he still has nightmares of me showing up at his booth one day… This multi-tasker and crew have just had their podcast picked up by iHeartRadio with their first episode appearing on there about Grossfest, I would like to present to you David Fairhead and crew (Jess Weary, and Robert J Hoglund of Fairly Dark Productions).
This next guest recently unleashed a wonderful independent horror film made on VHS called, “Spirit Animal”! She is putting the finishing touches on her short film “Trash Removal” and in pre-production on “Bathtub Shark”. She has worked on a few other productions and her star as a filmmaker is on the rise. I wish I could bottle her happiness for VHS MOVIES and sell it because it would make the world such a better place, I present to you: Madeline Deering.
Our next guest is a hoot… When he isn’t being a social media “INFLUENCER” he is an author of some spooky and dark stuff in his books he writes. This cool and proud Dad of two tries to scare the pants of all yinz kids with his stories that can feel all too real. When he isn’t busy producing some evil stuff that rolls around in his head this guy also is a big part of the Grossfest group from the beginning to help get the original concept off the ground. He works hard, proud dad, but his heart is dark and belongs to horror, I present to you: Terrence Main!
And for our last guest announcement is a person who is a late bloomer to be an independent horror movie fan and supporter (Jagoff Massacre changed everything)… A person who believed in Grossfest before anyone else and is the main driving force behind the event, I may be the face but he is why it happens, he recently made his film debut in “Spirit Animal” and has several other film appearances coming in the next year or so, he is known for his fishing and nicknamed “the OG” (Original Gross) and he will be there signing copies of “Spirit Animal” and selling Grossfest T-shirts I present to you: The famous and star of “Spirit Animal”… Tom Gross!

Yesterday I was filled with hope that we would be able to have Grossfest. But with great displeasure, regret, and sadness we are canceling Grossfest 2020. With the new mandates just handed down by the governor of Pa. we cannot go on and have the event we want to have. From the beginning of Grossfest a couple years ago yinz know we would always be upfront about everything we do and this is no different. We tried our asses off and the virus won. Whether you agreed or disagreed with what we were trying to do this year we gave it our all. First and foremost we thank the fans of the convention, vendors, guests, and future fans of Grossfest for supporting us. Second, The George Washington Hotel and staff kicks fucking ass! They went to great lengths to help this event happen with every phase the state had mandated from the beginning. So please support The George Washington Hotel anyway you can in the future. Third, Tom Gross, Jen Bootleg Gross, Tammy Main, and Terrence Main all worked their asses off to help put together something different for independent film fans. The hours we put in were a lot more than the past two shows we put together. Grossfest will always strive to be different and support independent cinema in the future… Now saying that remember be nice and respectful to your fellow human, wear a mask, and don’t forget we will see yinz July 24th & 25th, 2021 when Grossfest Returns!
P.S. not saying but just sayin there might be something Gross going on outdoors July 25th evening… Heard something from a friend?
Also in the meantime please support all who were going to be vendors at Grossfest the next couple weeks. Even if you can’t purchase anything let them know you care because Grossfest may have been their last chance this year to show off their talented work (links below):
(Last update before the show: Tim Gross here, honestly people we are all scared with what is going on in the world. But if this is the new normal then we are ready to roll: grab your mask, we got the hand sanitizer, the social distancing of vendors and guests will be in place, and be respectful to your fellow human. All we ask if you come follow the rules and just like Tom, Terrence, Tammy, Jen, myself, and our volunteers forget about what is going on in the outside world for a few hours. Hang out and check out all the cool vendors, filmmakers, guests, and Angel the coolest tattoo artist you’ll ever meet. Grossfest is just gonna be a little different than past shows. Remember just be nice to your fellow human in these tough times.)
Well…. we had our last meeting with the George Washington hotel staff and…….This year is going to be one for the record books!
The staff have been super great to us and very accommodating! Big shout out to Lia Capito and her crew for really helping make this event come to life! Thanks to them, this year, to help with social distancing, Grossfest will be taking over the entire hotel! Guests and vendors will be spread out throughout different ballrooms to help with social distancing! Each table will be spread 6ft apart as well as we will monitor how many people will be going in to each room to respect people’s social distance.
Award winning head chef of the George Washington hotel James a. Warcholak, will be on hand cooking up some tasty brain tacos for all of us! (I’m being serious, you read that right!) if that is not your thing, there will be other things as well! Menu will be posted soon!
There will be a bar on each level of the hotel for everyone to enjoy!
Second, the movie room will be going both days! We have a lot of cool movies playing this year. Again, to help with social distancing, only a certain amount of people will be allowed in the movie room at one time. To help with that, we will play a couple of movies on Sunday for those who may not be able to get in on Saturday
The hotel and our main goal is to keep everyone safe while we try to show you a good time. If you are sick, please stay home. There will be temperature checks at the door before you enter the show. Also as per the hotel and state , masks are mandatory! They must be worn all day. The only exception is when eating and taking pics. If you are caught without a mask and refuse to comply, you will be asked to leave with no refund. We know this is a touchy subject for some but we must do what is best for everyone and also what the hotel and state are requiring . We are in this together and we want everyone safe!
There will be hand sanitizer throughout the hotel and we recommend fist bumps when greeting each other.
As for pictures, it will be up to the guest or vendor to determine how comfortable they are with pictures.
Table pics are still a go, as long as everyone is comfortable with it.
Lastly, we want everyone to have fun and relax. We have a lot of great vendors and guests this year. This year is gonna be very unique, so bear with us as we all try and make the best out of a situation that is out of our control.

It is that time of the year again kids… Countdown to GROSSFEST! This year we listened to yinz ticket buyers and vendors and we are having TWO FREAKING DAYS this year, July 25-26, 2020. Great guest list… check. Movie room on Saturday with maybe a surprise or two again… check. Grossfest awards again… Of course. Having an awesome independent horror movie convention in a haunted hotel again… check. Tom, Terrence, Jen, Tammy working their ass off while Tim receives free beer and watches… check, it is Grossfest people!

Filmmakers yes we are taking submissions for short film and feature awards and the convention again but remember there is no guarantee it will play unless Tim Gross himself contacts you. And yes, for the love of Rutger Hauer we need a physical copy for it to be considered. We are weird that way! We are an independent convention with limited time so we do our best movie wise.
