New guest announcement for Grossfest 2019!

0

For our next guest announcement is a pair like no other making independent horror films. They are raw, brutally honest, and have made some films that are absolutely disgusting and beautiful at the same time. The point is their films grab you by the naughty parts and make you pay attention! They may be the most talented duo out there in filmmaking land and have a constantly growing audience.  A lot of people know them as TOE TAG or as I would like to introduce them to the few that haven’t had the pleasure of meeting these talented young people I give you… Fred Vogel and Shelby Lynn Vogel! I believe the picture explains everything…

Well this happened: Let’s just get right down to it because there aren’t enough words to express how cool this is! This man needs no introduction as his makeup work says it all. But he has carved out an amazing career as an actor and a director also. He has inspired generations to do makeup and effects. Kids are still inspired by the amazing work he has done in the effects world. Some of his work is shown off in “Dawn of the Dead”, “Friday the 13th”, and “Creepshow”. To this day I feel he did amazing work directing “Night of the Living Dead 1990”, but also was hilarious in such projects “From Dusk till Dawn” and “Machete”. He is truly the man, the myth, the legend, Tom Savini! We welcome Tom in joining our guest list for Grossfest 2019. www.grossfest.com #grossfest , #grossfest2019 , see yinz there!

Another Grossfest 2019 guest announcement!

For our next guest announcement, Glenn Berggoetz is the filmmaker behind twelve feature films, including the horror/thriller “Paralyzed with Fear” that stars Kane Hodder from the “Friday the 13th” films and “The Ghosts of Johnson Woods” that stars Joe Bob Briggs from “Monstervision.” Glenn makes most of his films on micro-budgets, which led to his being asked to write the book “The Independent Filmmaker’s Guide: Make Your Feature Film for $2,000,” which is available from the Hal Leonard Company. Glenn has also contributed numerous short horror films to the British “60 Seconds to Die” horror film anthologies. Next on his filmmaking agenda is the experimental horror film “Experiments in Evil” that he plans to shoot in the spring of 2019. With great excitement we introduce you to the talented Glenn Berggoetz! Check out http://www.grossfest.com.

The next Grossfest announcement

For our next announcement is possibly one of the most interesting independent filmmakers I have had the pleasure of meeting and his work is amazing. This person dabbles in all phases of filmmaking and has directed over 25 movies so far. This filmmaker has made a holiday film “Easter Casket” to something completely unusual in “Her Name Was Torment 1 and 2” to one of my favorite independent horror films of all time in “The Puppet Monster Massacre”. He is currently working on the film “Slaughterhouse Slumber Party”. It absolutely makes me ecstatic to introduce yinz to a multi-talented filmmaker in Dustin Wayde Mills!

This week we return to see what’s been happening in movie land… And the answer is not much.  So, we decide to talk to about a flick where a pyromaniac builds a fireproof murder cellar in an old house in DON’T GO IN THE HOUSE.  Then Tim chats about a flick where someone finds Dr. Herbert Wests’ reagent and gives it to a T. Rex and a bootleg Brian Bosworth and a few expendable mercs show up to fight it in a wack-a-doo flick called JURASSIC DEAD.  We also talk about the week’s movie watching habits, news, and all forms of other types of bullshit.

Tales of the weird abound in this episode.  Tales from the first annual GROSSFEST!  Yes folks… it started as a joke and ended as a damn good time had by all.  Wanna know if Tim fought a CHUD?  Wanna know how many smokes Tom Gross smoked?  Wanna know the whereabouts of Kyle’s lost keys? Well listen to this show as it’s the round-up of all the sights and smells that was GROSSFEST!  We have all the normal movie chat to,  you know… if your into that kind of stuff.

Just about two months away folks and tickets are available!!!

A little less than six months to go till… GROSSFEST!

Hello people, independent horror movie fans, vendors, authors, fellow geeks. Quite a few people have recently ask, “What is the goal of Grossfest?”

The goal of Grossfest isn’t just to have fun but to do a film festival, convention, whatever you wanna call it a little bit different. Grossfest is not here to compete with the local Steel City Con, Living Dead Festival, or even Horror Realm at The Hollywood Theater. Grossfest is an idea that yes, started off as a joke but was always an idea of something that I have always wanted to do. It’s an idea that has been rolling around in my head for many years. Hell, some of the people who got to see the Bastards of Horror film festival years ago at Horror Realm knew I always would like to do something like this. The point of this idea is to have an event once a year with help that will cater to independent filmmakers, independent actors, their films, independent authors, and celebrate them. Give them another platform to show off their work! Instead of the Indy people being only a small part of the event how about make them the biggest and best part of the event?

I want this event to not only be something I have always enjoyed for so many years about low budget and independent movies. But how about have an event where not only focuses on these cool talented people but introduce them to a crowd of film lovers and geeks that may not know them or only heard of them. Plus, have the filmmakers and so on meet each other filmmakers, gain new fans, etc. Also we all know conventions can be expensive believe me I have been there done that for years. The other part of the goal of Grossfest for me and the others behind it is we are not in it for the money, but to celebrate the independent genre. So that means keeping costs of tickets and vendor spaces low so we can do this every year at the same location! As I always said, “you never know when meeting these talented people and seeing their films when you might be introduced to the next Tom Savini or George Romero or KNB FX group?”

By some chance the event isn’t successful a really cool person, Tim Wilder (R.I.P.) said to me, “Order pizza and turn it into a party. All of our friends will be there anyway and there will be awesome movies!” And that I can never argue.

So if you are interested in being a vendor, contact us (grossfest@gmail.com) tables are only $50. Just a fan or wanna see what all the fuss is about tickets will be $10 at the door.  You are a filmmaker or producer that has a feature or a short film? We are taking those. Of course we already have our main lineup of films but we do have a segment where the best feature and short film sent to us will have a spot in the movie lineup but also win a “Grossfest” award! And again if successful my hope is to have another movie room to show off even more independent movies…
