New guests added to Grossfest 2024!

Grossfest got some excellent news this week from Jessa Flux about her fulfilling her dream! We support this and already have it in the works of working to bring her in for Grossfest 2025? So of course we always have a list of great independent people to bring in so let’s waste no time greeting and introducing our next two guests for Grossfest 2024 as they are super talented and sure yinz will love them:

Roni Jonah started her career as a professional wrestler, managing Mike “The Miz” Mizanin. From there, she became a staple on the indie film scene, appearing in nearly 80 films. Including fan favorites Shark Exorcist 1 and 2, Thrust, Deadly Dealings and The Wicked Ones among others. Definitely keep a look out for Roni starring alongside Erin Brown (aka Misty Mundae) in the upcoming Scream Dream.

Jason Crowe, a Kentucky native started his film career with a bang, landing the lead role in the now cult classic zombie film, “Dead Moon Rising.” Since then, Jason, a “fearless” actor known for immersing himself within a character, won best actor for his honest portrayal of Josh in Harvest Lake, and has continued on in films such as The Bad Man, Space Babes from Outer Space, The Wicked Ones and Hooker with a Hacksaw.

For those who may have not heard we have another special guest coming to Grossfest making their first Pittsburgh convention appearance! This person is a writer, director, and actor whose career has spanned at least four decades now. This talented person has been known to act in such Indy films: Psycho Vampire, Hung Jury, Psycho Sisters, and Easter Bunny Bloodbath 2: No More Tears, but also directed films like: An Ex-Hooker’s Christmas Carol, Deep Undead, and The Blue Hole which they are putting the finishing touches on as we speak. But this person might be known to Indy fans most for being the founder of Sharkey Video and his talented underwater camera work of the feature Deep Undead that just got a wonderful rerelease recently we are delighted to introduce all of yinz to Dave Castiglione!

For our next guest announcement, these two filmmakers are hard at work on a couple long awaited independent projects. They both have worked as directors, producers, cinematographers, writers, editors, etc. on a couple independent films you may have heard of? “The Barn, 10/31, The Barn II, Force to Fear, Cryptids, and 10/31 part 2. They have an amazing tight knit talented crew that helps them bring some amazing ideas to life. We all just hope they remember us little people when these folks get uber-famous of course I am talking about the two talented guys from near the Washington, Pa. area: Justin M. Seaman and Zane Hershberger!

It is hard to believe I have known these two people as long as I have. We met in passing at an awesome local video store but a short time after we officially met on the set of their project “The Resurrection Game”.  A one take stunt in their film cemented a friendship with these very talented Indy folk. One has directed such independent features ‘The Resurrection Game’ and ‘Razor Days’ but also has written several scripts for ‘Dead Men Walking’, ‘The Screening’, plus has written recently very knowledgeable reads called ‘The Movie Outlaw’ book series. The other half of this excellent independent duo has directed ‘Severe Injuries’ and ‘Splatter Movie: The Director’s Cut’, acted in such projects ‘Demon Divas and the Lanes of Damnation’ and ‘Tales of Poe’, and a producer. This couple makes up the company as we all know it ‘Happy Cloud Productions’. It is an absolute pleasure and I am proud to introduce two great friends that their careers have now spawned two plus decades in independent film… the next guests of Grossfest 2020: Amy Lynn Best-Watt and Mike Watt!

Guest announcements for GrossFest 2018!

Our first guest of Grossfest and one of my favorite filmmakers of all time is Todd Sheets! Or as I like to call him Todd “Mother Fucking” Sheets!

The man has a passion like no other for independent movie making. Todd Sheets is one of the few filmmakers out there that has been doing this since the shot on-video days! Todd is the link between new and old or from Jon McBride and The Polonia Brothers to Chris Seaver and Mike Watt to Jim Roberts and Dustin Wayde Mills. Mr. Sheets best known for his tidal wave of crazy zombie gore horror flicks “Zombie Bloodbath trilogy” has made many more since he started 30 years ago. Mr. Sheets has written, directed, produced segments for anthologies and has made other independent horror projects. But Todd is making waves again with his even more outrageously beautiful and different horror movie taste with projects such as: “House of Forbidden Secrets”, “Dreaming Purple Neon”, and “Bonehill Road”. Mr. Sheets shows no signs of slowing down. Mr. Sheets’ unmatched passion and love for the genre was a no-brainer to be the first guest for Grossfest. So it will be a great pleasure to have him at this one day event plus my inner 16 year old self will be doing cart wheels in the parking lot…

 

Our second guest of Grossfest is fresh face to the independent filmmaking world. Proud to present Nick Charles! Nick is an interesting person who for his first big project did a documentary about independent filmmaking called “B-Documentary”. He was able to get a few iconic people into the film and its impact of a film I believe is something all new independent filmmakers should check out before venturing out in the backyard, the woods, the abandoned property, etc. to start their first film. Nick has already a sequel just about finished and a couple other projects in pre-production. Nick’s excitement, passion, and just pure happiness of independent filmmaker is contiguous and again a pleasure to have at Grossfest!
