So Grossfest fans, vendors, and guests… I believe we have accomplished our mission! We are BACK! First, let me thank the Comfort INN there in Penn Hills for allowing me to be me and trying to give what I thought people would enjoy. Second, I got to thank Famous actor Tom Gross for allowing me to do my thing (being insane, maybe?) but also making things happen behind the scenes. Third and maybe the most importantly I gotta thank the great guests we had, the vendors, and people who paid ten bucks to get in. Without yinz n’at this wouldn’t be possible. So thank everyone: the hotel, the vendors, the guests, the people who bought tickets, and the couple people who heard my deep thoughts on the state of conventions this past weekend… This wasn’t the beginning of the end for Grossfest, this was a new beginning, a new chapter as we jumped a huge hurdle here and now we venture into preparing for an August two-day show in 2024. So stick around, give us some time to get some details figured out as we move forward and remember Grossfest is proof “just because someone tells you can’t do it, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to do it”. This energetic, talented actor, director, overall cool human being has been one of my favorite and possibly most interesting people I have had the pleasure meeting over the years. You may know him from one of the best Indy “massacre” films ever made in “Pool Party Massacre”. But he also has parts in recent projects such as: The Barn 2, Amityville Hex, Scare Me, and Slashlorette Party as Grossfest is honored to have Drew Marvick as a guest.
This talented newcomer to the filmmaking community busted onto the scene with a film not only shot on video but prefers the process and has already carved a niche into the scene with their first big project “Spirit Animal”. Now they are about to rock the boat of Indy filmmaking again with their latest “Bathtub Shark Attack”! I dare you to say there is a bigger supporter of SOV films and shark films out there? So with great pleasure we will be having Madeline Deering as a guest.
This filmmaker is a quiet, talented fellow that I have known for many years and have had the pleasure watch him grow and learn with his films. I get super excited when this individual has a new release because I know it’s gonna be gory, fun, and possibly a little disturbing. He might be best known for such titles: Welcome to Deer Creek, Tonight You Die, What’s Wrong With Mom?, and Happy Hour Holocaust . But the I believe the Indy world is about to be blown away by this filmmaker’s most complete feature to date with “Then My Mind Walked Away” as we enjoy knowing Jim Roberts will be joining Grossfest as a guest.
Now this dude is excellent and his career has spanned a few decades where he started in a little role for a little film called “The Dead Next Door”. From there he was in such titles: Robot Ninja, The Sandman, Polymorph, Killer Campout, Frames of Fear 3, Deathboard, Hell Van just to name a few. But recently has really made an impact as a director with titles: Her Name is Christa and Brimstone Incorporated! We believe Grossfest fans will enjoy his presence and we are happy to announce James L. Edwards as a guest.
Now yinz know we cannot have a Grossfest unless we have this individual as a guest? This director, actor, producer, has given Indy fans such fun titles as: Basic Slaughter, The Slasher Hunter, Everyone Must Die!, Super Task Force One, and then showed off his talent even more when he broke through with not just his “Meowy” series but his “CarousHell 1 and 2” breaking into the mainstream! This multi-talented star is on the edge of going global but always has time for us folks at Grossfest as usual we enjoy knowing we have Steve Rudzinski as a guest.
Over the past decade Mr. Clevenger has had a variety of roles through several Indy projects but also is a director, producer, etc. It isn’t often someone can make waves with one Indy film project and if I could point out a film that in our opinion is why we wanted him as a guest for Grossfest it is his first directed feature 2018’s “People to Kill” starring the very talented Erin Ryan. That film stands out big time when we discuss independent films over the years and take our word on it… It will stick with you as you get to meet this very cool individual who we are happy to have as a guest at Grossfest, Mr. Adam Scott Clevenger.

Hey Grossfest fans it won’t be long before Saturday, October 29th, 2022 rolls around and we are having another outdoor event that features filmmakers, artists, and authors!
First, THE EVENT IS FREE TO THOSE ATTENDING.
Second, vendors remember we have limited space and they are going fast. 10X10 space, you bring the table, chairs, and canopy tent and its $25 for the space. (Yes, we will be around to help set you up.) You can go to www.grossfest.com and click on the link there to get a vendor agreement and pay, or just contact the famous actor Tom Gross on Facebook, or contact grossfest@gmail.com. (Reminder, you must have a signed vendor agreement to come set up.) Set up is 9 to 10:59am that morning. It is a parking lot, let’s keep this simple my friends.
Third, sorry folks no movies are playing (when we do a bigger Grossfest there will be movies) but you will be able to go onto the patio and meet our two special Grossfest guests in Maddie Deering and Steve Rudzinski. They are two of the most talented young independent filmmakers in the Western, Pa. area and their recent projects are making a lot of waves in the independent world so meet them before they go Hollywood!!!
Fourth and most important, because the show is free, all we ask in return besides visiting, supporting, and networking with all the great vendors please walk inside the bar/restaurant Willow Station: have a drink, sample the awesome food, support a great local place who puts up with our CHAOS called Grossfest, and meet some new friends there.

This will be our Only one-day show and film night of 2022.
It’s a One Day Collectable Show featuring approximately 35 tables of Movie Collectibles, DVD and Blu-ray, Movie Posters, Autographs, and More from 10:00am until 5:00pm.
Then, catch Two Classic (or not-so-classic, as the case may be) Drive-In Movies on 16mm Film. Complete with a Cartoon, Short Film and Original Intermission Reel beginning at 7:30pm.
Make an Entire Day and night out of it!
Come in during the day to hang out with friends.
Do a little browsing and shopping with our Vendors.
* Grab a bite to eat and a couple of drinks at the hotel bar (or nearby restaurant) and return in the evening to watch the films.
* The Hotel will have a concession stand open from 11am – 4pm, then Vinney’s Bar will open at 4pm with food and drinks available.
Food and drinks are allowed in the Movie screenings.

A “Damsels in Distress” Double Feature –
ISLAND OF LOST WOMEN (1959) While flying to an international news conference in Melbourne, radio commentator Mark Bradley (Jeff Richards) and his pilot, Joe Walker (John Smith), are forced to crash land on an uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean after they run into a storm. They find this island is inhabited by Dr. Paul Lujan (Alan Napier) and his three beautiful daughters: Venus (Venetia Stevenson), Mercuria (June Blair), and Urana (Diane Jergens). Lujan, a nuclear scientist, has fled here with his family to escape from the civilized world after seeing the the power of the nuclear bomb. He doesn’t want his two visitors to leave, lest they reveal his whereabouts, so he destroys their plane. With help from the two older daughters, however, the men begin to construct a raft. (Naturally, Mark and Venus have fallen in love as have Joe and Mercuria). A fire in Lujan’s solar furnace causes an explosion which nearly wrecks the island and attracts the attention of a search plane. Mark, Joe, and the three young women look forward to being rescued; Lujan has doubts but is resigned.

OPERATION DAMES (1959) During the Korean War, a troupe of traveling USO entertainers (including Russ Meyer’s buxom blond wife, Eve Myer, along with Barbara Skyler, Cindy Girard, and Alice Allyn) find themselves trapped behind enemy lines when their South Korean escorts are killed. Now, chased by the enemy, they run into a lost patrol of US soldiers, join forces, and make a desperate attempt to cross the lines and meet the US army on the other side. Mindless drive-in fun with the Hollywood hills passed off as Korea and some stock footage tossed in for good measure.

WASTELAND INTERMISSION REEL – A terrific 22 minute reel of classic trailers, shorts, and drive-in intermission bits will screen between feature films.
And of Course a Cartoon and a Couple of Shorts…
A BROKEN LEGHORN (1959) Down on the farm, an egg in slow-witted hen Miss Prissy’s nest hatches, and out pops a baby rooster. Fearing he will be replaced by the kid and sent off to be slaughtered, Foghorn Leghorn plots to do away with the little tyke before that can happen.
THE THREE STOOGES (1953) “UP IN DAISY’S PENTHOUSE” – The Stooges father (played by Shemp) strikes it rich in oil and immediately issues divorce papers to his wife. He plans to marry Daisy, a gold digging younger women unless the boys can disrupt the proceedings. It’s a remake of THREE DUMB CLUCKS (1937) with Shemp replacing Curly and actually one of the better Stooge Shorts.
THE LITTLE RASCALS / OUR GANG (1930) “DIVOT DIGGERS” – When the caddies at the local golf course go on strike, the gang (and their mischievous chimpanzee) step in to cause chaos in one of the funniest Our gang shorts made.

We wanna thank the Willow Station Restaurant and Bar in Castle Shannon, Pa. for helping us to have our first outdoor event. Point is people it’s been a hard two years for all of us. This is another step in making a bigger Grossfest happen again but also we want you to have more money in your pocket to spend on the vendors, filmmakers, etc… again THE EVENT IS FREE TO GET IN! Plus the whole point of Grossfest is to introduce you to independent filmmakers, authors, artists and to have fun doing it like “conventions used to be!”
