Oh yinz are in for a treat with this next Grossfest guest announcement. This actor, producer, director’s career has spanned over four decades and may have just hit their stride as they are working more now than ever in the independent genre. Sometimes this talented soul goes under the radar of some Indy fans but when their name is mentioned or the film that first help burst them on the scene makes our eyes light up. This guest isn’t flashy but does get respect from peers when their name is mentioned. They are known for such projects as: Deep Undead, The Jacker Trilogy that first started in 1993, Amityville Thanksgiving, Sharkhouse, Turkey Day, and Bloodbath, Horrortales.666 Part 2 & 3, but the title that always gets the hardcore Indy fans’ ears to perk up would be Burglar from Hell! The Gross brothers are privileged to introduce yinz to the legendary Phil Herman!
For this next Grossfest 2025 guest announcement is a person I would call a “super talented Swiss Army Knife” of independent cinema as they have carved out a career over the past decade plus I have not seen since the likes of Debbie Rochon or Tiffany Shepis! They have done everything from acting, stunt work, producing, writing, directing, podcasting, you name it this person has done it! This person has quickly become someone all Indy filmmakers strive to have in on their project and they just got started. Would not be surprised if Hollywood comes (if they haven’t already) calling for this person sooner than later as they might be known for their excellent work in such projects: Swamp Zombies 2, The Profane Exhibit, Mrs. Claus, Halloween Horror Tales, Teacher Shortage, Return to Splatter Farm, Legend of Crick Foot, with upcoming projects such as Terrifying T-Rex, Return of the Corn Zombies, and Amityville Pool Toy Massacre. This next guest isn’t just another pretty face in the crowd her drive and body of work has proven that. Grossfest folks we are honored to introduce yinz to the one and only Mel Heflin!
Another big announcement: For our next Grossfest announcement we will be introducing yinz to one of the hardest working people in independent cinema over the past few years. Their popularity is getting bigger by the day as they have been in such great Indy films: Cannibal Hookers, Shingles the Movie, Murdercise, Bigfoot Exorcist, along with over a dozen more projects in production. Most likely by time Grossfest rolls around in August she will have appeared in over 50 movies if not more? She combines her hard work with her next door girl charm to be one of the most in demand actresses there is… we like to introduce yinz to the awesome Jessa Flux.
Once again almost no introduction is needed after Grossfest 2024, back by popular demand we present to yinz the multi-talented tattoo artist Angel O’Connor!!! Her work speaks for itself and Grossfest fans absolutely loved her!
First and foremost Grossfest is returning August 1st & 2nd, 2025 to their home at the Comfort Inn at 699 Rodi Road, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15235!
So last week during GrossFest 2024 we made guest announcements that we could not wait to tell yinz… So for those who could not attend? Besides us coming back to the Comfort Inn as its officially the home of GrossFest. Same time every year but a third time is a charm to welcome this talented duo as first guest of GrossFest 2025 and believe fans of our little convention will absolutely love them let us introduce yinz to The Mummy and the Monkey!
This person is a name in independent film that spans over five decades! Literally he and his brother are the godfathers of SOV. This next guest is someone I literally wrote down first next to Jon McBride’s name of people we would like to bring in as guests in 2018 for Grossfest! Never thought his would happen as this person has directed over 90 films: Splatter Farm, Feeders, Razorteeth, House Squatch, Amityville in Space, too many to list… This person is literally the man, the myth, the legend of independent cinema and it gave me great delight to announce his name last week during Grossfest to say he will be joining us for Grossfest 2025. Let me introduce yinz to the one the only Mark Polonia!
Hey Grossfest fans we are not done yet as I forgot to mention Mr. Mark Polonia is bringing some friends for our two day event. This person is no stranger to many of you as this person is talented and fun to watch as they are an actor, director, a producer in such films: Empire of the Apes, Amityville Death House, Bigfoot vs. Zombies, Land Shark, Amityville Island, Sharkula, among many others. This person has become a staple in several recent Polonia Brothers productions as you he cannot be mistaken who he is soon as you see him so let’s give a nice warm welcome to our next guest for Grossfest 2025… Jeff Kirkendall!
Another friend of Mark Polonia is kindly going to be a guest of ours at Grossfest 2025 is a multi-talented fellow that some of yinz may know him from Return to Splatter Farm, Camp Blood, Motorboat, and Cocaine Werewolf as this young man continues to put his own stamp on independent cinema. We are absolutely delighted to have this next guest with us August 1st & 2nd, 2025 in Pittsburgh as we have the pleasure of introducing yinz to Tim Hatch!

This person is a longtime friend, a brother to me, a person I have respected and championed his work for years to not just independent filmmakers but to all horror fans, you have heard me scream at conventions about him we present to you Grossfest fans: the man, the myth, the legend, the greatest horror T-shirt person out there T-shirt Joe Garcia!!!
May 1, 2024 – Brad Sykes’ previously unreleased SOV horror movie DREAMS OF THE DEAD has been acquired for Blu-ray release. Made in Virginia Beach, Virginia over the summer of 1994 by student filmmakers including Brett Edenton (THE PACT), DREAMS OF THE DEAD is a gripping supernatural horror film which combines Eurohorror imagery with Tales from the Darkside-style atmosphere.
Sykes, whose many horror credits include CAMP BLOOD, DEATH FACTORY and PLAGUERS, did not initially seek release for DREAMS OF THE DEAD back in 1994, screening it only for friends and family.
30 years later, DREAMS OF THE DEAD is ready to be unleashed, with a new music score by composer David Zuzelo and a new sound mix and titles by filmmaker Anthony Catanese. The result is an improved viewing experience that still retains the look and feel of the film’s gritty analog origins.
DREAMS OF THE DEAD will be released on VHS by Nightfall Pictures in Fall 2024 with a special edition Blu-ray to follow in 2025. Local screenings are planned throughout the US this year so indie horror fans can experience this one-of-a-kind horror film for the first time ever.
DREAMS OF THE DEAD Synopsis
Creatively blocked and recovering from a bad breakup, writer Adrian Hallow becomes obsessed with a series of letters he receives in the mail. Addressed to the previous occupant, who disappeared under strange circumstances, all the letters are written by a serial killer known as ‘K’. At the same time, a mysterious woman appears to Adrian in a series of disturbing dreams, beckoning him to save her. Adrian’s reality unravels as he begins a quest to find the truth behind the woman and her strange connection to K. Will Adrian rescue her in time, or simply become K’s next victim?
