Los Angeles, January 11, 2016 (Newswire.com) – Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance will be released on Blu-ray and DVD this Tuesday, ‪January 12, 2016 on Amazon.com.

This much anticipated sequel to the legendary cult classic, Samurai Cop (1991), explores the dynamic duo of Detective Frank Washington (Mark Frazier) and Joe Marshall (Mathew Karedas), who are teaming up once again in this action-packed tour de force. This time their mission is to solve a series of assassinations being committed by a secret group of sexy female vigilante killers.

“I’m a big fan of the first film and it’s amazing to work with the original cast as well as the new generation of cast members. I feel really blessed. I hope I did the ensemble justice. It helped to have reverence for the cast and I respected everyone’s work in it.”

The Blu-ray/DVD features two audio commentaries with Mathew Karedas, Mark Frazer and Gregory Hatanaka moderated by Dave Robinson, deleted scenes and behind the scenes footage

Alongside the original cast, the film also stars iconic actors such as Mel Novak (Bruce Lee’s Game of Death, Black Belt Jones, Chuck Norris’ Eye for An Eye), Bai Ling (The Crow, Crank: High Voltage), Tommy Wiseau (The Room), Laurene Landon (Maniac Cop 1 and 2, Airplane II: The Sequel, Hundra), Thomas J. Churchill (Lazarus: Apocalypse, Checkpoint), Joe Estevez (Dexter), Dawna Lee Heising (Pond Scum, Ten Violent Women: Part 2), Gerald Okamura (G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra) , Lisa London (Darling Nikki, Divorce Texas Style), Kayden Kross (Street Smart), Lexi Belle (Sisterhood), Kristine De Bell (Darling Nikki, Meatballs) and Joycelyne Lew (Mad Cowgirl, Ride With the Devil), who were both leads in Jackie Chan’s The Big Brawl and countless others.

This film utilizes 35mm film, which is rare in today’s digital world.  This is a new trend as 35mm and 70mm film are being used in the new James Bond and Quentin Tarantino films. Heising’s scene with Wiseau utilized 35mm film, which was apropos as Hatanaka truly gave homage to the original film while also keeping it fresh and current enough for modern day audiences.

ROMULUS, MI – Oct. 31, 2013 – Synapse Films, Inc. has acquired the North American home-video rights to Dario Argento’s 1977 classic horror film SUSPIRIA, with an original soundtrack by European prog-rockers Goblin. Described as “one of the scariest films of all time” by Entertainment Weekly, SUSPIRIA stars the beautiful Jessica Harper (Brian De Palma’s PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, Woody Allen’s STARDUST MEMORIES) as a young girl caught up in a coven of witches controlling a German dance academy, with a guest appearance by Udo Kier (Lars von Trier’s NYMPH( )MANIAC, Andy Warhol’s FRANKENSTEIN and DRACULA).

“I’ve been involved in the restoration and release of many films in my career, but SUSPIRIA has always eluded me, until now,” says Donald May, Jr., President of Synapse Films. “It’s one of my favorite horror films and I’m ecstatic that my business partner, Jerry Chandler, was able to negotiate with the rights holders to release this film. This is going to be an amazing project
for us.”

Synapse Films, Inc. will work closely with Technicolor Rome and Technicolor Los Angeles to create an all-new high-definition 2K scan from the original negative for a possible 2014-15 video release. “It’s important to spend as much time as possible to create the definitive high-definition home video version for the fans,” May explains. “We’re going to take our time with this one.”

Synapse Films, Inc. is currently planning the extensive work on SUSPIRIA in conjunction with Technicolor, utilizing both their Rome and Hollywood facilities. The film scanning will be coordinated and supervised by Technicolor Hollywood’s Director of Restoration Services, Tom Burton, whose film restoration credits include Ridley Scott’s BLADE RUNNER, Georges Méliès’ A TRIP TO THE MOON, and Blake Edwards’ BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S.

Final specifications, retail pricing, and extras for the Synapse Films release of SUSPIRIA will be announced closer to the as yet to be determined release date.
